Career Development: Photographing Your Work with Matthew Septimus
Photographing art can be a simple process with good light, tight focus, and the defining perspective. The approach can be difficult if any of those components are not present. A workshop with photographer Matthew Septimus reveals all that goes into successfully photographing three-dimensional artwork, from setup to lighting and editing. Septimus brings his experience of photographing museum exhibitions to provide participants with the practical skills to showcase their work professionally.
Matthew Septimus has been a professional photographer for over two decades. His camera has captured portraits of people from all walks of life. He has photographed a stack of cookbooks, two of which received James Beard awards. He has been photographing important exhibitions for major art institutions for years, bringing the same enthusiasm and dedication to each assignment. He lives in Ditmas Park with his wife, two children, dog, cat, and the various birds he feeds in his backyard.
