Ray Smith Studio Occupies Decentralized
“Art is a communal sport.” Ray Smith
Ray Smith Studio Occupies Decentralized presents a one of a kind group show celebrating community and the collaborative spirit. Drawing on the studio’s network of artists, nearly fifty creatives will participate in this unique collaborative event.
In addition to group installation, the Studio’s Table Drawings will be displayed in the Decentralized Features Gallery. A stream of consciousness, the installation is composed of eight large scale, and co-authored works.
From 1:30–2:30pm on Sunday, September 15, join Ray Smith for a table drawing session. During this time, guests will have the opportunity to collaborate on a communal art piece—and respond directly to the displayed works.
RAY SMITH STUDIO
Ray Smith first moved to New York in the late 1970s to join in what he describes as a “particular type of energy.” Since establishing Ray Smith Studio, the collective has produced various exhibitions and events for artists including The Bruce High Quality Foundation, Ron Gorchov, and musical groups such as Yerba Buena.
